First edition, first impression; one of 2000 copies originally printed. No jacket. Bound in green cloth over boards heavily illustrated using gilding on the front and spine. Light but consistent rubbing to the gilding, edge wear, some light scuffing, and fraying at the front lower corner. Corners are square and a very slight lean. Long and lower edges are rough cut. First blank to half-title uncut. Bookplate from former owner on the front pastedown, notes in pencil from former seller on ffep. Light toning throughout, slightly heavier in the preliminaries and advertisements in the back. Text is all clean and clear with no markings, underlining, or in text notes. A very good copy.
