Paris: H. Piazza, 1928. First Thus. Number 902/1200 printed on pure Fil de Rives wove paper and finely bound by René Aussourd with illustrations by George Barbier. In a custom slipcase of metalic marbled paper over boards with leather edges at the opening. Slipcase is shelf worn with some generally minor scuffing and creasing to the front panel. Bound in luxurious full grain blue Morocco with elaborate gilded borders and floral designs to the front and rear. With five raised bands on the spine and heavily gilded frames and letters. Solid and square, joints just cracking (all holding quite firmly), minor scuffing to edges, solid and square. Fine leather and gilded interior boards with shimmering blue silk endpapers (front/rear pastedown silk framed by the leather and gilding). Marbled papers. Original wrappers, including spine, bound in. Light foxing to title page, not seen elsewhere in the work. With 20, full page, and brightly colored, illustrations by George Barbier.
