Berlin: Verlag Die Schmiede, 1925. First Edition. First edition, first printing in original German of one of Kafka's most recognized novels (in English, "The Trial"). With an afterward my Max Brod, who posthumously published much of Kafka's works. Early rebinding in brown grain leather over boards with quarter navy blue leather spine with gilded lettering and four raised bands. Slight lean, edge wear, generally solid. Marbled endpapers. Some spotting to first blank verso and page stating, "Die Romane des XX. Jahrhunderts," minor toning to half title. No other page impacts: remainder of the interior is gently age toned, otherwise it is clean and clear with no inscriptions, bookplates, notes, or markings.
