London: John Murray, 1851. 4th Edition. Bound in 19th century marbled boards with green leather 1/4 spine and corners. Matching marbling to edges. Gilding between marble and leather section, four raised bands with gilded designs in four compartments and gilded title on leather in remaining compartment. Solidly bound, rubbed along edges and joints, square. Bookplate of a former owner on front pastedown, transfer of image to ffep and old price sticker on ffep. Laid in slip stating, "from the library of John Judson." John Judson was a poet and author who taught at the University of Wisconsin La Crosse in the 2nd half of the 20th century and was the founder of the Juniper Press. The interior is clean, clear and crisp with some old pencil or charcoal marginal notes and underlining - present but relatively minor and infrequent.
