Bound in period half blind stamped leather over exposed wooden boards with brass clasps present and in usable condition. Wood is solid, leather is rubbed; modern sympathetic restoration to reattach the front board and reinforce the front hinge. Lacking 8 leaves of preliminaries, including original title page - present title page is from a later edition and has been trimmed. Colophon indicates first edition. All text is dark and legible. Some leaves with closed tears, marginal fraying (infrequent), spotting, and general aging. Three leaves chipped with minor loss of text including the final page and its colophon which has some paper repair as well. This volume includes plays, fables, and poetry.
First edition and first collected volume of works by Hans Sachs who was an important 16th century German vernacular author, playwright, and poet.
