Fine 19th century binding by Riviene & Son with full grain dark brown leather with double gilded rules on the front and back, five raised bands on the spine, gilded borders and lettering on spine. Spine slightly sunned, presents very well. Recently and professionally restored with front board reattached and frontispiece portrait of Dickens (without publisher imprint) with facsimile signature reattached. Top edge gilded. Marble endpapers with detailed gilded edge designs turning in from the covers. Complete with blanks, half-title, frontispiece, title, dedication, preface, contents, list of plates, and all text and plates. First four plates in text with the publisher's imprint. The interior is clean, clear, and crisp feeling with nominal to no spotting.
