Newcastle Upon Tyne: T. Saint, for J. Wilkie, 1775. First Edition. A short poem based on the illicit relationship between Henry II and Rosamund Clifford, who after the relationship was discovered 'retired' to Godstow Nunnery where she had been educated only to be poisoned age 30. Modern archival cloth binding with acid free endpapers. Tan grained cloth and paper label with bright black lettering on the spine; solid, square, and fine. Contains, half-title, title page, advertisement, and poem. Half-title and final page toned; other pages are bright with very nominal marginal spots in a few places. The title page has a beautiful engraving of the ruins of Godstow Nunnery by Ralph Beilby (1744-1817). All pages with neat, handwritten, numbers in the upper outside corners, numbers run from 487-510, final page with marginal pencil notes in an old hand.
