The Natural History of Selborne
London: Whittaker, Treacher, & Co., 1833. New Edition. With additions by Sir William Jardine; with eighteen engravings by Branston. The author is known as an early naturalist, sometimes disregarded by the scientific community, still influential, especially for the more romantic view of naturalism that permiated the Victorian era. Bound in green leather over boards with gilded framing to the covers, four raised bands on the spine, gilded designs and a red label with gilded lettering. Solid and square, the rear cover is dark green, the front is faded a little with some soiling. Some shelfwear along edges and rubbing at hinge. The interior is free from inscriptions, bookplates, or markings.
