London: Blackie & Son Limited, nd. Early Edition. An early printing, unknown edition, in original unclipped jacket (3/- net). Jacket with some minor creasing and chipping at head and tail of spine. Tan paper over boards with illustration and checkerboad pattern on front; with black lettering on front and spine. Some minor chipping to paper and small tear along edge of spine. Illustrated endpapers in blue. Old inscription and price, both in pencil on frontispiece recto; incscription dates to 1953. Some foxing at page number in the last few pages, red splotches on page 45 - all illustrations, including the 12 full page color illustration, unimpacted. Overall a very good copy.
