Mencken's series of critical essays and works on American literature, society, and thought. Signed by the author on ffep and with errata slip providing edits not made prior to printing adhered after contents. Jacket is in protective sheet with minor rubbing and minor chipping. Black cloth over boards with debossed design on front and gilded lettering and lines on spine. Solid binding, square, sharp corners, minor spot of rubbing on the rear panel. Notes in pencil from former owners and sellers on ffep and final end paper. Hinges repaired. The interior is lightly and evenly toned, otherwise it is clean and clear.
