First published work by Irish illustrator, Harry Clarke. Preceded by a limited edition copy, this folio storybook contains 16 color illustrations with tissue protectors and 24 halfstone illustrations. All illustrations present. Bound in worn and faded cloth over boards with oval illustration on the front and black lettering, designs, and additional illustrations on the front, spine, and back. Worn, with some staining, discoloration, and fraying. Spine darkended. Top edge gilt, long and lower edges rough cut. Some marginal chipping inside, no loss of text (pg 171 has a large section torn, but again all text legible). Tissue papers mostly creased and with some tears. Overall in good condition. The custom archival jacket and slipcase will continue to preserve this work for years to come.
