Third Edition from, Philip De Commines (1447-1511), considered the first truly modern writing and the first significant historian since classical times. The author spent time in multiple French courts including that of Louis XI and Charles VIII. His Histories was written with exceptional details about court life, intrigue, and attempts to instruct on statecraft. Nineteenth century binding in marbled boards with calf spine and corners. Some rubbing and bumping to covers. Armorial bookplate on front pastdown with some pencil notes to same and on ffep. Endpaper added likely at time of binding. Pages are trimmed with minimal impacts to geneology tables at back. Complete with all indicated geneological tables. Title page illustrated. Multiple illustrative capitals. Pages are generally toned, pages 1-2 has small tear at corner, and some ink staining with minimal to no text impact. Translated by Thomas Danett.
