Blue and tan cloth over boards. Front cover contains a gilded and red figure of a woman, an image repeated on the spine and within the book. Very light rubbing to the edges in a few places. Fore edges colored red. Pages are clean and clear. Laurence Sterne was an 18th century Anglo-Irish writer. In this work he broke from the tradition of rather dull travel journals and spoke more artistically. This led to a resurgence of travel journals of a more sentimental nature during the late 18th century. This copy contains 5 full page illustrations including the Frontispiece and a ? page illustration beginning the text.
