Cologne: Eucharius Cervicornus (Hirtzhorn), 1532. Early/Contemporary Edition. Aged but more recent vellum binding with three raised bands on spine. New endpapers and ex libris inside the front cover. Written in German. Leaf g6 missing with small woodcut, supplied in photocopy. Illustrated at the end with a woodcut of Saint Jerome with the lion. Title page is slightly frayed, interior slightly dark but still fresh and clean throughout. Some notations and key section indications in the text, especially at the beginning. Joannes Justus Lanspergius (1489-1539) was a German Carthusian monk and ascetic writer. His literary works comprise paraphrases and homilies on the Epistles and Gospels of the liturgical year, sermons for Sundays and festivals, meditations and discourses on the Life and Passion of Christ, and a variety of treatises, sermons, letters, meditations etc. on subjects pertaining to the spiritual life.
